I came directly from college into business, and it took me almost 2 years to truly understand how things work. In this, I’ll explain what exactly I would do to build a profitable company with almost 0 investment, using the knowledge I have today if I were in B.Tech again. First, I would spend time learning digital marketing properly. After that, I would work as a Rapido, Uber, or Ola captain by renting a bike or car and saving money. Once I made around ₹1 lakh, I would build a basic eCommerce website and start with one product or one service only. Then, I would create strong advertisements and good ad creatives and run ads with a proper strategy based on the product or service. The goal would be to generate leads or sales. For payment gateways and current accounts, there are some basic business requirements, so I would set those up properly as well. One important thing I learned is that ads are expensive. If your product costs ₹300, sometimes your cost per sale may also become ₹300. Even if it is break-even initially, you can still make profits through repeat orders and customer retention. But if your cost per sale becomes lower than your product cost, then the business becomes really powerful. After that, my main focus would shift towards content creation and building organic reach for the brand page instead of depending only on paid ads. Until the brand gains visibility and trust, I would continue increasing the ad budget slowly, reinvesting profits, and continuously improving ad creatives. The real long-term goal is not just paid sales — it is getting organic sales. We should also properly retarget customers who already purchased from ads because repeat customers are what actually make a business profitable and sustainable.
